Past Wishes Granted

The children who face a critical illness don't have the promise of a long life, something all of us take for granted.  Childhood should be filled with happy, carefree times.  Our special children spend each day fighting for their future and their lives.  Although we can't change the future, we can offer these special children a magical moment of escape from their daily pain and suffering.  Their wish becomes the memories a family will cherish forever.

Over the years we have been able to grant a special dream to many Louisiana children.  Often that dream is not complex.  But for that special child it is the joy of experiencing a dream come true.  Share with us a few of those dreams that "A Child's Wish" have make come true.

Kennedie and her family travel to DisneyKennedie's Wish

Little Kennedie lives in St. Francisville, LA and had never flown in an airplane before!  She wanted to meet Sponge Bob and the Disney Characters.  Because of her health conditions travelling for Kennedie is difficult but she made it to Disney!  And the great folks at Give the Kids the World in Disney were able to provide accommodations for Kennedie and her family on just 3 days notice.

Mitchell's Wish

Wish Coordinator, Tammy McDaniel, thought that it would be interesting to grant a wish for a teen from a town she had never heard of, Iowa, Louisiana.  She soon learned that a teen from a small town near Lake Charles was no different than any other.

Kelvin's Wish

Kelvin is a fifteen year old from Pine Prairie, Louisiana who wanted a makeover for his bedroom.

Grant's Wish

A popular Wish these days for teenagers is a computer.  So it was no surprise Grant wanted a laptop as his Wish.  Not just any laptop though.  He wanted an Alienware laptop known for its super capability to play games; with high end video graphics, huge storage, and a lightning processor.  With his dad’s help, he outfitted his room with seven speakers.  What a set-up!!!

Trey's Wish

The family that mourned the loss of a young child months ago went to their son's former school to see him be honored and a wish granted on his behalf. " He had been through three open-heart surgeries. Originally he was going to Disney World," Hart said.

He died before his wish was granted.

Ty's Wish

Ty didn't hesitate a bit when we asked about his wish.  He wanted a Play Station 2 and a new bike.  So, a shopping spree at the WalMart in Boutee, Louisiana was planned.  The limo first took Ty and his family to WalMart. Ty not only picked out his Play Station 2 with games but he also got a 27 inch television to go with it.  Finally, Ty picked out his bike and off he went riding around the store.

Kaitlin's Wish

Kaitlin's original wish was a trip to Disney World.  However, due to her illness she was unable to make the trip.   Since Kaitlin couldn't travel, she decided that a playhouse would be the perfect wish since it was something Kaitlin had always wanted and they were unable to provide it for her.  A Child's Wish had the playhouse constructed by Custom Playhouses in Minnesota and trucked, completely built, to her home in Napoleonville, LA.   Kaitlin was able to be at home the day her new playhouse was delivered and was able to watch through her bedroom window as the forklift placed her new playhouse in her backyard.
