About Us
"A Child's Wish" is a Louisiana based non-profit organization fulfilling the dreams of children who must make plans one day at a time. Through the efforts of our volunteers we have helped hundreds of critically-ill children experience the joy of having one of their wishes granted.
Our staff are all volunteers . . . making it possible that every dollar we receive is utilized directly for our children. These volunteers are the lifeblood of the organization and dontate precious time to making wishes come true for our children.
We rely exclusively on the generosity of private donations and funding to grant wishes. Our Genies, as we call them, are actively involved in the support of the organization. However we also have various sponsorship levels to meet any level of desired monetary gift.
Our greatest ally is the universal love most of us share for children. Our most uncompromising enemy is time.
A Child's Wish was founded in 1982 is a member of the Association of Wish Granting Organizations. Members provide services in the granting of wishes or dreams to seriously, critically, chronically ill or injured children with life threatening medical conditions. Additionally members agree to expend no more than 30% of their total annual expenditures on administration and fundraising costs thereby providing at least 70% of their total annual expenditures on programs and activities directly related to wishes and dreams.
